NUTRITIONAL PSYCHIATRY
One component of mental health is nutrition. It gives us the building blocks for key neurotransmitters in our brains needed for our mental health. Serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine, glutamate and GABA are all neurotransmitters we need to function well. Nutrition can also decrease (or increase) our body’s level of inflammation, and inflammation can be a key component in our mood and cognitive function as well.
